I get asked the question, “How did you get started? Wasn’t it scary?” all the time. It’s one of those stories I almost always love to share after 2–3 coronas. Some of the inbetween stuff that isn’t going to be shared today is really sad. So, I’m going to provide the SparkNotes version. If enough people ask me to share the sad stuff in comments, maybe I’ll think about get more intimate with all of you.

Anyways, what does it mean to be an entrepreneur?

The Webster dictionary would tell you it means, “a person who starts a business and is willing to risk loss in order to make money.”

I would agree, but I think step one is really, a person who is will to take risks. Sometimes, an entrepreneur doesn’t know if the thing they want to do is going to make money. Sometimes, they just wanna see if there’s a demand or interest in the funny non-sensical ideas in your brain.

I think that’s important. The funny stuff in your head. The stuff that you’re passionate about, because this stuff if shown to the world, can be freaking contagious. Your dreams. Your passions. People see that. People recognize that. People will buy that.

So, what created my original spark? My very first entrepreneurial venture was in First Grade. My first taste of creating nothing and turning it…
